The new botanical.

22 August 2018

There's no doubt about it, the botanical trend is perennial love affair. Come rain or shine, each summer brings a new take on the trend, be it cacti, palms, jungle prints or flowers. In 2018, we've definitely seen an abundance of blooms, from the catwalk to our homes, on wallpaper and fabrics. Here we show you how you can interpret the trend with paint.

Moving on from the sharper edges of succulents, fern and palms, this year's botanical look is softer and lighter with a playful feel about it. Think roses, peonies and wild flowers. Introducing bright candy colours (also a big trend in themselves) to a fresh green paint colour like Frida will give you a super modern feel and keep you on the right side of chintz!

The obvious combination - green and pink – are absolutely having a moment in fashion and interiors this summer. The perfect companions, they bring out the best in each other, either contrasting or complimenting – depending on the hue. Piper and Frida keep each other young and fresh and emulate primroses on a garden lawn.

For a slightly edgier and supremely cool look, switch pink for a lilac paint colour. A little more unusual but not unnatural (think lilac trees everywhere) Frida and Vera make the ultimate power couple. If that's a little too fierce for you, try Frida and Penelope.

Elle Decoration FR May edition.

For a truly abundant bloom of colour, go for the full bouquet, like this stunning room seen in the May edition of Elle Decoration FR. Get the look by painting your walls green - Colby or Emma look beautiful on a large scale – and choose a complimentary colour such as peachy Beau or Eddie to paint woodwork such as skirting, doorframes and windowsills. Introduce colour pops like yellow Nikolena or light blue Helene by painting pieces of furniture like a chest of drawers or a wooden chair. Then don't forget the flowers!

Frida, Helene, Nikolena, Colby, Liv, Piper, Eddie and Penelope just love a garden partyl
