London Design Festival 2018
13 September 2018
We are so excited that we get to be involved in this year’s London Design Festival, in an inspiring collaboration with the colour-loving, London-based artist Lois O’Hara, to-die-for interiors retailer W.A.Green and the brilliant German design brand pulpo. What a way to make our debut appearance at this amazing event.
The London Design Festival is held annually ‘to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world’ and along with Landmark Projects seeing major installations in spaces such as the V&A, Southbank Centre, St Paul's Cathedral, Tate Modern and Trafalgar Square, Festival Commissions sees that unique and exciting design installations take place all over the city.
Enter our collaboration and the hugely talented artist Lois O’Hara - renowned for being visually stunning, bright and contagious. Lois has completely transformed six large wooden street planters into brilliantly bold and colourful art installations - using Reggie, Seren, Avery, Nora, Aksel, Cole, Hans and Hazel - in a bid to brighten the streets of Shoreditch and ‘calm’ traffic in low-emission zones. It is hoped that the uplifting art installation of planters along Charlotte Road and Rivington Street in Shoreditch will slow down passers-by who might stop to take in the view.
Adding to the drama, a further installation will feature in the display window of ‘dopamine-for-the-home’ interiors retailer W.A.Green, where design brand pulpo also exhibits its most colourful, fun and eclectic products.
Hackney Council has given its full approval of the project and now the team at W.A.Green is also in discussions to make this a longer-term community project.
To be part of the London Design Festival magic and see the inspirational installations for yourself, head to W.A.Green on 9-10 Charlotte Road, EC2A 3DH throughout 15th – 23rd September 2018. We may see you there.
