How to transform an awkward space with paint

17 October 2018

We recently shared our mutual colour-loving collaboration with multi-award-winning blogger Emily of The Pink House, where she chose Daisy and Ida for some cracking colour pops in her kitchen. Naturally, Emily then fell for peachy Ida so much that she went for a complete Painthouse overhaul in her family room, painting Ida on the walls, skirting, doors and shelves. We’re so excited to show you the mouth-watering result here.

Before

Writing about the project in her blog, Emily describes the family room as an awkward thoroughfare space with no windows, but explains how our peachy paint, along with some incredible pieces from the amazing Shrimps X Habitat collection, completely transforms the room.

After

‘My family room is an awkward space. In the longer term I plan to knock down some walls and replace them with windows to let in more natural light, and change the structure of the room so it’s no longer a thoroughfare, but for the time being I needed a solution to brighten it up. Painthouse’s bright, joyful, peachy-pink Ida was just perfect for the job. So much so, in fact, that I used it on walls, skirting, door and shelving. Now my family room is a place the family actually want to hang out. Even the Pink House Husband grudgingly admits it looks good!’

We love how Ida brings the room to life, emitting light and giving the room character and warmth. From another angle, Ida reflects daylight from the modern extension, picking out the pink flowers from the beautiful wallpaper and seamlessly pulling the dining room, kitchen and family room together.

Working some beautiful colour combos here, Ida strikes a stunning contrast against the stark black lampshade, compliments the fluoro pink candle and sets off the brass detail. She really has worked her magic in this space and we love seeing her sitting pretty in this fabulous home.
